About us
Summer break is fantastic, but it can also lead to the dreaded “summer slide,” where kids lose valuable skills and knowledge gained during the school year. That’s why summer reading is so important; it’s a vital bridge between school years! Studies consistently show that kids who participate in summer reading programs increase their reading skills, boost their motivation, build confidence, and discover a deeper enjoyment for reading. It’s truly a win-win!
From Library Lover to Literary Trailblazer

When I was a kid, I absolutely loved going to the library. All the books I could pick from, take home, read, and savor. Our local library was a short walk from my house and I spent a lot of time among the shelves picking what I would read next. I lived for summers when I would sign up for the annual summer reading program, a perfect excuse to go to the library every day!
Fast forward to 2022, and after taking part in the inaugural Buy a Horse Book Day, a spark ignited. I started dreaming up ways to get more kids excited about reading, especially those who, like me, couldn’t get enough stories about horses. And just like that, the idea for a summer reading program dedicated to horse books took off like a thoroughbred at the races!
Ten authors from all over the world participated in our inaugural year! We continue to grow and celebrate equestrian literary works from around the globe.
If you have questions about the program, becoming a participating author, or just want to help promote the program drop me a line!
