It’s Easy!
- DOWNLOAD the Kid’s Summer Reading Log or pick one up from one of the participating authors.
- REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR 2023 – It will reopen in Spring 2024.
- READ and complete activities on the reading log. Mark each off activity as you complete them.
- SUBMIT BY SEPTEMBER 1 completed cards. There are four easy ways to do it.
- Post it on social media with parents’ permission with the hashtag #HorseBookSummerReading2023;
- Have a parent email a photo to hbsummerreading@gmail.com;
- Post it in our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/kidssummerreadingprogram; or
- Upload it to our website
Finish by September 1 to be eligible to win fun prizes* from participating authors. Be sure to check our Facebook Group for features with authors, additional activities, book reviews, and more!
* Prizes will be randomly drawn from all submitted entries.
Who Can Participate?
Kids of all ages! We have books for pre-K, early readers, middle-grade readers, and YA!
What if We Can’t Complete Certain Reading Activities?
The list of activities on the Reading Log are suggested activities. Can’t visit a public library? Find a Little Free Library near you! No bookstore nearby? Find one online and browse the kid’s section. No pet or horse, read to your favorite stuffed animal. Get creative!
