A lifelong equestrian, children’s book author Danika Kester grew up competing across multiple disciplines with her horses, including riding hunter-jumper and dressage horses, before falling in love with the cowboy lifestyle while studying for her degree in Animal Science.
Now married to a sixth-generation rancher, she enjoys life on a working ranch in California, raising their two kids and writing children’s books showcasing the western lifestyle.
Her first book Charlie Learns to Be a Cowboy aims to instill a love for western traditions and the timeless virtues of cowboy life for her audience of early readers.
The Kids Summer Reading Program hosted by horse book authors was established in 2022 to create a reading program featuring horse books!
