Christmas in July

Jacqui, Geordie and Hannah are excited to help with Peter’s upcoming Christmas in July event. The girls are eagerly thinking about how they can contribute. Jared Watson is also keen to help.

Used to a typically hot December for celebrating Christmas, Jacqui has fun navigating wet weather, muddy paddocks, and a crippling hoof abscess with Jaq. Geordie finds herself battling with jealousy as Peter works closely on his project with a classmate. Jared feels that the dynamics of his family are changing as his mother starts to embrace going to church. It seems that Christmas in July is bringing to light a lot of challenges.

Hurdles

Jacqui King is excited about an English essay that she gets to complete in class. She'll be able to focus on her favourite people and things in life! But as she considers whether she should share about her faith in the essay, she has doubts. How will it be received?
A youth group lesson at church reminds Jacqui that she will have many hurdles in life. Some she will be able to get over, other she may have to go around. Will she be able to overcome this hurdle?

Ride and Tie

Jacqui is surprised to learn about a different horse riding event at this month’s riding club. The Ride and Tie event involves two people and one horse. They make up a team of three, rotating between riding the horse and running to cover a long distance.

The riders are introduced to this new event at Riding Club and told they will be partnered up to compete against each other. Who will she be paired with? And whose horse should they ride? With this last-minute declaration, which team will win?

Fireproof

Summers in Australia can be incredibly hot and windy. Although Jacqui is settling into the rhythm of high school, she is dismayed by the heat and fires that are travelling across the state.

The warm weather and increasing fires are threatening her family’s property and the horses living there. The King family work to protect themselves if fires do come. Jacqui learns that alongside the practical tasks they carry out, one spiritual act can truly make them fireproof.

Angles

Jacqui King is amazed to find that it is time to start high school. Without her two closest friends alongside her, she is stepping into a new chapter of her life. As Jacqui learns to settle into the new routine that high school brings, she hopes she can establish new friends, perhaps even one or two that love horses.

This year Jared has a school assignment focused on angles that requires Jacqui’s help. And the best bit? She can use her horse riding knowledge to assist him. As she does so, Jacqui goes on a journey, learning to look at things from God’s angle.

Made by Design

Jacqui King is preparing for a new start with High School just around the corner. Whilst accepting the fact that she will be starting Year 7 without her two closest friends Geordie Smith and Hannah Johnston, the young blonde is also considering how she may share her faith with Hannah.

A recent discussion between Geordie and Hannah has opened a possible way to share about God's design of the world. Jacqui is eager to find examples in the bible that she can share with one of her closest friends. Can she find horse examples that show Hannah how the world is made by design?

Fifteen

Jacqui, Geordie and Hannah find that time is short as the first year of High School is fast approaching. Jared has asked for their assistance regarding Peter’s upcoming surprise birthday party. The girls are eager to help, but find their attention taken by a sudden invite out to Hannah’s aunt Jan’s place.

It seems she has a young mare that is close to foaling and would love the girls’ help. With Peter’s party less than a week away, will the girls be able to help aunt Jan and solve Jared’s problem?

Belonging

Jared is pleased to find himself welcomed into the ‘horse riding family’ by Jacqui King, even if he doesn’t like the way it came about. This event causes him to question when the grey gelding Chairo will settle into the herd. Although Chairo is now paddocked with the other horses, he doesn’t seem to have bonded with any of them. Jared is keen for his favourite horse to truly settle in at the Kings’ property.

As Jared continues to learn about horses, his youth leader Jed Hansen teaches him about becoming a part of the Christian family. The thirteen-year-old goes on a journey, thankful to find that he and Chairo seem to have found a place to belong.
